On the 3rd August 2021, we held our leg of the famous Ladies Coast Open Competiton. It is an annual event that has been running for 70 years with Leisure Lodge Golf Club joining in from early 2000.
This year’s event at Leisure was a great success with 137 ladies entering from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. 3 categories were played this year. A – which catered for handicaps 0 – 20.4, B – handicaps 21 – 35 and C – catering for new, high handicap golfing ladies.
Category A winner Best Gross was Irene Nakalembe from Entebbe. Category B Best Gross Tekenet Katitia from Nyaharuru. Category C winner best Stableford Gertrude Mwendah from Leisure Golf Club.
Overall best gross winner was Irene Nakalembe with a total of 76. Well out Irene!

Short History – Did you know that the Ladies Coast Open started in 1948?
It was initially held at Mombasa Club until 1966. In 1967, by mutual agreement, the Ladies Coast Open began alternating between Nyali Golf Club and Mombasa Club. From the year 2000, Leisure Lodge Golf Club joined the event with Vipingo Ridge following in 2013. We look forward to adding Malindi Golf Club to the circuit in 2022.
Ladies Coast Open is a unique, and major event on the golfing calendar in Kenya. This year saw the largest number of entries recorded since it’s birth.
